How to Measure Glove Size

Getting the right glove size starts with an accurate hand measurement. This free glove size calculator uses the circumference of your palm to suggest the best fit in both numeric and letter sizes (XS to XXL). Whether you are shopping for men's or women's gloves, the tool works with inches and centimeters, so you do not need to convert anything yourself.

To measure your hand for gloves, you will need a flexible measuring tape. If one is not available, a piece of string and a ruler work just as well. Follow these steps:

1. Lay your hand flat with the palm facing upward. Use your dominant hand—the one you write with—because it tends to be slightly larger.
2. Wrap the tape (or string) around the widest part of your palm, just below the knuckles. Do not include the thumb.
3. Note the point where the tape meets. If you measured in inches, round the value up to the nearest half-inch. For example, 8.1 inches becomes 8.5 inches. If you measured in centimeters, you can enter the number directly into the calculator, or convert to inches using $\text{inches} = \text{cm} \div 2.54$ before rounding.

Note that these ranges correspond to material gloves (wool, leather, rubber, latex, etc.)—the kind that fit snugly for warmth or protection. They are not suitable for baseball gloves, kitchen oven mitts, baby mittens, or specialty safety gloves (which require hazard-specific sizing).
